GUIDED CONSERVATORY TOUR
Join
Garfield Park Master Gardeners as they guide you through the Conservatory,
highlighting interesting plant and historical information. Tours will
take place on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month. Tours are free
with the regular $1 admission.

STORIES
Join
us Thursday afternoons in June for story time in the Garden! Bring
a blanket or lawn chair and relax in the shade while enjoying a story
show-and-tell. Ages 3-12. FREE.

JUNGLE TALES
Ages:
2-5 (with adult), Cost: $3 per session
This
popular preschool program returns with a focus on the rainforest and
the world around us. Join us for nature-related stories, activities
and crafts. Activities may be messy or involve going outdoors, so dress
appropriately. This program fills up fast and pre-registration is required,
SO REGISTER TODAY! Program dates are the second Tuesday of each month:
May 12, June 9, July 14, August 11. Choose between 10am - 11am or the
new 3pm -4pm session. Call early to pre-register: 317.327.7580.

YOUTH GARDENING
Junior
Gardener Club - Come
out to the Children’s Garden each month for a fun-filled garden
lesson and activity. No “green thumbs” required. The
Club will meet in the Conservatory in cases of inclement weather.
Please pre-register for this exciting program by calling 327-7580,
as spots are limited. (Ages 6-12). Sessions are from 11am-12pm on
the second Saturday of each month: May 9
Junior
Master Gardeners - Through this 9-week program, kids can
learn about plant basics, composting, and growing their own food!
Each child will have plant their own garden and enjoy the bounty
of their labor. Space is limited. Participants are encouraged to
come to Family Planting Day on May 30th from 9-10AM to plant their
gardens.

Junior Master Gardeners for
Homeschoolers - This spring the Junior Master Gardener
program will be offered for homeschoolers looking to get their fingers
a little dirty! This bi-weekly program will feature different topics
such as plant basics, soils, composting, and insects during the
7 sessions. Time will be spent indoors and outdoors, raising herbs
and cool season vegetables. (Ages 6-12). Sessions are bi-weekly
Wednesdays from 1:30-3pm from Feb 25 - May 20. $25.

TAIJIQUAN
(TAI CHI) AT THE CONSERVATORY
Ages:
18+, Cost: $37 per 8 class session
Taijiquan,
or Tai Chi, is an exercise-based class that teaches health principles
about mind, body, environment, and how they interact. Suitable for all
fitness levels. Increase your balance, flexibility, circulation, relaxation,
ease of movement, and return to a more youthful feel. For more information,

GARDEN CLUB EVENTS
Garden
Club Trip: Henderson, KY. Aug 22 - Join
Garden Club Tours for a one-day bus trip and visit the John James
Audubon State Park and the Museum and Nature Center. For more details,

JUNE EVENTS
Rose
Show - Saturday, June 6th, 12 - 5pm - Free with $1 Admission
- The Indianapolis Rose Society will present a stunning show of many
different rose varieties. Society members will also be on hand, so
bring your questions!
Bonsai
Show - Sat & Sun June 13-14, 10am - 5pm - Free with $1 Admission
- Join the Indianapolis Bonsai Club as they display a number
of different bonsai plants. The club will also have some plants for
sale. Members will be on hand to answer questions.
Wacky
Planters - Saturday, June 20 11am - 12pm - $4 - Come
by and find out that plants can grow in just about anything. Bring an
old shoe, hat, or whatever you think would be neat – and we’ll
supply the soil, plants, and fun! Space is limited. Ages 5+.
America
We Remember -Friday, June 26th, 8PM - Free patriotic music
and fireworks featuring the Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra. Music program
begins at 8:00 pm in The MacAllister Center for the Performing Arts.
Fireworks will begin at dark and will originate in the north-east side
of the park so they will be visible from most areas in the park. Come
to the park early and bring along your own blankets, chairs and a picnic
supper or enjoy some of the fair-type food available from on-site concessions.

JULY EVENTS
Family
Scavenger Hunt - Thursdays in July 4-6pm, FREE - Stop by
the Conservatory and pick up our Family Scavenger Hunt. This hunt
will send you all over the Conservatory and Gardens. Bring your finished
hunt back and receive a prize! Hunts must be returned during scheduled
times in order to receive a prize. July 9, 16, 23 & 30.
Nature
T-Shirt - Sunday, July 12 3-4pm, $2 - Drop by the Conservatory
with a plain solid colored t-shirt (dark colors will work well) and
create a one-of-a-kind design using objects from nature. Space is
limited. Ages 7-14.
Music
in the Garden - Saturday July 18th, 6:30 -8pm, FREE - Bring
your lawn chairs or blanket and enjoy live music in the beautiful
Sunken Garden in Garfield Park. Event sponsored by Friends of Garfield
Park, Inc and Indy Parks. Performer to be announced.
Froggy
Fun - Saturday, July 25, 10:30-11:30am, $3 - Join
us for a look into the world of these croaking creatures. See live
frogs and toads from Indiana and the tropics and create some “frog
slime” of your own. Space is limited. Ages 5-10.
The
Many Uses of Herbs - Saturday, July 25, 1:30-2:30pm, $5 - Come
learn about herb gardening and the many uses of popular herbs. Space
is limited. Ages 18+.

AUGUST EVENTS
Family
Bee Day - Sunday, Aug 2, 2-3pm, FREE - Come
learn about the fascinating world of bees and beekeeping. Join a real
beekeeper and explore bee biology – with a special look inside
the hive in our garden. See how honey is extracted and sample a taste.
Space is limited. Ages 3+.
Beautiful
Butterflies - Saturday, Aug 22, 10:30am - 12pm, FREE - Butterflies
are everywhere this time of year! Stop by the Conservatory to learn
more about these winged creatures and explore the Garden for caterpillars
and butterflies. Get some tips on attracting butterflies to your own
yard. Ages 3+.
