GARFIELD PARK CONSERVATORY is located within the 136 acre Garfield Park, on Indianapolis' near south side. The facility is open to the public and offers workshops, gardening demonstrations, youth education and guest lecturers on horticulture and landscaping. The conservatory features special exhibits throughout the year, including holiday poinsettias, orchids and the spring bulb show!

First Friday Theme Party: 50s Sock Hop
Date: Friday May 2       Time: 6-9 p.m.     Fee: $3/person
Dust off your poodle skirt and saddle shoes, grab your sweetie or bestie, and make your way down to the Conservatory to celebrate the 50s with trivia, music, and a dance contest. There will be a food truck on site and prizes for the best dressed and best dancers.

Herb Container Garden
Ages: 16+      Dates: Saturday, May 3       Hours: 10-11 a.m.      Fee: $5/person
Join the Central Indiana Herb Society and make your own small herbal container garden. Learn how to care for and use these plants in this hands-on program. Registration required by calling 327-PARK (218304). Payment will be collected on the day of by instructor.

Garfield Park Chalk Art Festival and Competition
Date: Saturday, May 12
Help us decorate Garfield Park by creating works of art on our sidewalks with colorful chalk! Everyone gets a prize. The festival is for all ages and all experience levels. Bring your own chalk, or purchase a chalk kit for only $3. Adults and Teens may register for a judged competition! Register between 10:00 Am and 2:00PM at the Garfield Park Arts Center. Artwork to be judged must be completed by 3:00PM.

Master Gardener Plant Sale
Date:Saturday, May 17       Time: 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
This is not just a sale! In addition to annual and perennial plants for sale, the Master Gardeners will also be on hand to give advice and answer all of your gardening questions. Admission to sale is free, plant prices vary.

Family Garden Day: Butterfly Planter
Date: Sunday, May 18       Time:2-3 p.m.     Fee:$8 per planter     All ages
Everyone is welcome to come to this workshop and create a beautiful planter that butterflies will love. Learn what plants butterflies and caterpillars love and help attract them to your yard. All materials will be provided. Registration is required by May 15th (217222).

May Flowers: Pre-School Program
Ages: 2-6      Date: Wednesday May 21       Time: 10-11 a.m.     Fee: $4
Preschoolers can discover what is blooming in the spring and have some flowery fun. Join us for a story, flower craft and fun flower activity as we learn about nature. Registration required(217230).

Stepping Stone Workshop
Date: Tuesday, May 27       Fee: $8 per stone
Session 1: 5:15-5:45 p.m. (217224)
Session 2: 6:00-6:30 p.m. (217225)
Enjoy creating a decorative stepping stone, just in time for summer! Stones must be left to dry and can be picked up later. Registration required by May 23th.

Conservatory Guided Tours
Join Master Gardeners on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of each month (and every Saturday June - August) as they conduct tours highlighting information about the interesting and unusual plants in the Conservatory. Tours are free with paid admission.
